Teaching and Training

The Department of Pathology plays a major role in teaching pathology and pathophysiology to medical students during all years of the UMass Vista curriculum, as well as teaching graduate courses in immunology and virology.

In the laboratory, graduate students in immunology and virology rotate and conduct their PhD thesis research with faculty in the department.  The Department of Pathology also offers an excellent post-doctoral fellowship in its research laboratories.

Clinically, the Department of Pathology offers residency training in Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Clinical Pathology (CP) as well as five post-residency fellowships. In addition, our department plays an active role in clinical education, and our residents and faculty regularly participate in interdisciplinary teaching conferences.
