Why UMMS: I was drawn to the breadth of experience available to residents. Additionally, during my interview, I felt like I connected well with everyone I talked to. Everyone was very open and candid, and seemed to genuinely like working there. It seemed like a very supportive program that emphasized resident wellness and success.

Anesthesiology Interests: I am currently keeping an open mind as I explore the specialty, with particular interests in pediatric anesthesiology and pain medicine.

Why UMMS: I chose UMMS because of its welcoming, team-oriented culture, the wide variety of clinical cases, and the opportunity to train in a supportive environment. Being close to my family was also an important factor in my decision.

Anesthesiology Interests: Currently regional anesthesia. Last month, pediatrics. Before that, cardiac. Before that, critical care. At this point, my real interest is keeping my interests hemodynamically stable.

Outside Interests: Outside of the hospital, I enjoy research, cooking, hiking, and spending time outdoors. Since I now live next to a lake, fishing may soon be added to the list. Above all, I most enjoy spending time with my wife.

Why UMMS: On interview day, what stood out most was how genuinely supported the residents seemed. I sensed a level of camaraderie, openness, and confidence in the program that made a stronger impression on me than at many other places. It reflected the kind of learning environment I was looking for and immediately felt like something I wanted to be part of.

Why UMMS: I chose UMass after rotating here as a fourth-year medical student and immediately felt welcomed by the knowledgeable, caring faculty and residents, who challenged me daily while offering tremendous support and encouragement. I also wanted to remain in New England, where I can pursue my outdoor passions and continue making memories with family and friends nearby

Why UMMS: I chose UMass because of the supportive culture, strong clinical training, and the opportunity to train at a busy New England academic medical center. During my interview day, the residents and faculty seemed genuinely happy, welcoming, and invested in each other’s success.

Why UMMS: I was drawn to UMMS due to its balance of incredible hands-on training, resident well being, and exposure to a wide variety of cases and pathologies that will serve as a strong foundation for the rest of my career. Not to mention that it's located in one of the most objectively beautiful locations in the country and has proximity to Boston and family!

Why UMMS: UMass Memorial has a strong reputation throughout the Northeast, and my goal is to train in an academic program that offers exposure to a wide variety of complex cases. What stood out to me most were the supportive faculty, excellent clinical training, inclusive work environment, and the especially strong camaraderie among residents. During my interview, I felt that UMass was the right place for me.
