Why I Chose to Train at UMass: I chose to train at UMass because of the exceptional experiences I had during my Family Medicine and Sports Medicine rotations. I was consistently impressed by the clinical expertise and knowledge of both the attendings and residents, as well as their genuine commitment to teaching. The environment was consistently approachable, supportive, and highly conducive to learning. As a Massachusetts native, returning home to train has always been a personal goal. The program’s collaborative culture, dedication to resident education, and commitment to high-quality patient care made UMass the ideal place for me to continue my training and grow as a physician.
Hobbies: Weightlifting, pickleball, basketball, and riding motorcycles. I also enjoy following Boston sports and spending time with family.
Fun Fact: I attended Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals, where the Boston Celtics clinched their first championship since 2008—an experience that had been a childhood dream of mine.

Why did I choose to train at Hahnemann? I chose to train at Hahnemann because I knew UMass had an incredible Family Medicine culture that emphasizes excellent patient care, strong mentorship, and a supportive learning environment. My path to Family Medicine was somewhat unconventional, as I began my residency training in Emergency Medicine at Cooper University Hospital, and I am incredibly grateful for the skills and perspective that experience gave me. While I enjoyed caring for patients in acute situations, I found myself missing the continuity and relationships that make Family Medicine so meaningful. I was excited to return to UMass, be closer to family, and continue my training in a community that I already admired as a medical student. I look forward to bringing my EM background to Hahnemann while embracing the change of pace and the opportunity to care for patients throughout their lives.
Hobbies: Spending time with family, fishing, running, reading, following professional sports
Fun Facts: The first scientific paper I was published on was on Hellbender Salamander populations in PA!

Why did I choose to train at Hahnemann? I chose UMass because I wanted to train somewhere that values inclusivity and encourages patient advocacy, while offering robust, full-spectrum family medicine training. The warmth and welcoming spirit of everyone in the program stood out immediately and the opportunity to be closer to my family in Southern NH made the decision even easier.
Hobbies: I love hosting dinner parties, baking sourdough, knitting & embroidery, outdoor sports, reading, traveling, and almost anything food related!
Fun Facts: All 6 of my family members were born in different countries (I was born in Italy!). Also, I used to compete in regattas on Lake Quinsigamond in front of the UMass University Hospital in high school, so getting to come back and train here feels like a full-circle moment!

Why did I choose to train at Hahnemann? I was drawn to UMass for the opportunity to train at a program that practices strong full-spectrum care. I felt I would be able to explore my current interests, while expanding upon new ones, under supportive faculty and with a diverse patient population. I was so impressed by everyone's passion for family medicine and the clear camaraderie and community among the residents, faculty and staff. Additionally, I went to college in Boston and lived in Somerville post-grad, so I was excited to be back in Massachusetts, where there is so much to explore and enjoy, outdoors and in!
Hobbies: Cooking, gardening, reading, crafting, spending time outside
Fun Facts: I love animals (even briefly considering vet school) and spent most of medical school pet sitting dogs, cats and one bunny!

It was obvious during my interview day that the people who make up UMASS Family Medicine love Worcester and the diverse patients they serve; I am grateful to learn from people who are truly dedicated to their community, inside and outside of work. The residents seemed to laugh a lot as well, which is what I am looking for in a program.
Hobbies: Playing guitar and cello, cooking, birding, crosswords, distance running, remaining a chronic beginner at rock climbing
Fun Facts: Between college and medical school, I was an EMT in Delaware County, PA (where Mare of Easttown takes place) and certified to drive the ambulance. I am also proficient at waveboarding (aka RipStik-ing).

Why did I choose to train at Hahnemann? I could not have asked for a better fit than UMass! I loved the program's focus on true full-spectrum family medicine training, as well as their commitment to diversity in both their training cohort and patient populations. The residents and faculty were warm, thoughtful, and welcoming from our very first meeting, with a focus on patient-centered care that I immediately admired. As a proud New Englander, I also hoped to move closer to home for my training. The opportunity to further pursue my special interests at UMass was the cherry on top! On a fourth year away rotation at UMass and throughout my interview experience, I was thoroughly impressed by the knowledge and passion that surrounded me, the desire for continued improvement, and the welcoming culture as well. As an important bonus, I always knew I wanted to come home to Central Mass to serve the communities that I’m a member of.

While interviewing with and visiting UMass, I appreciated the program's commitment to forming a diverse class of residents and teaching faculty, as well as the sense of camaraderie amongst them. Lastly, I'm excited to be living closer to family and friends around the greater Boston area.

Having trained at UMass for medical school, I got the opportunity to work with incredible faculty and residents who emulated the type of physician I will strive to become: extremely kind, caring, and knowledgeable, who use a patient centered approach to tackle some of the incredible challenges facing primary care today. The opportunities for broadening my skill set, as well as pairing the diversity of working in a city with working in a smaller health center, made UMass the right fit for me!

I also love the diverse patient population of Worcester, and the opportunity to serve a community that has grown to feel like home!
