Who We Are
The Family Health Center of Worcester (FHCW), also known as Queen Street, is a federally-qualified community health center serving a diverse population of patients impacted by poverty and structural oppression. For nearly 50 years, we have been providing primary and specialty care, as well as numerous social services, to residents of Worcester’s inner city regardless of their identity or financial situation. Our patients speak more than 60 languages and come from all over the world, making us the medical home of tens of thousands of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. We also serve large portions of the city’s Black, Latinx, Native American, AAPI, and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as those who are living with HIV, are unhoused, or are struggling with substance use disorders. We are a health center committed to social equity and justice through direct service provision and community advocacy and partnership. 

Access to the Experts
FHCW residents are trained by a highly-skilled and academically-accomplished faculty group. Members of our faculty have masters- and fellowship-level training in Obstetrics, Reproductive Justice, Public Health, Sports Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Global and Refugee Health, HIV and Viral Hepatitis Care, Gender Affirmation, Adolescent Medicine, Geriatrics, Primary Care Psychiatry, Criminal Justice and Correctional Health, Behavioral Science, and Medical Education. We run school-based health centers in several of Worcester’s public schools and our own ADHD clinic. We use the Centering Pregnancy model for prenatal group visits and also host group visits for chronic conditions like diabetes.

Our residents have on-site access to behavioral health specialists, consultant psychiatrists, sports medicine family physicians, and academic pharmacists. Residents with particular clinical and research interests can choose a mentor from a variety of accomplished and experienced faculty and can develop projects that are presented locally and nationally. Residents also have the opportunity to learn primary HIV care and substance use disorder care by having patients with HIV or SUD on their panels and managing these conditions under guidance from our in-house specialist teams.
