Daniel MacVeigh Fierro

Daniel earned his B.S. degree in Biotechnology at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2016, where he did research on both chloroplast motility and neuron degeneration. He then completed his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology at UMass Amherst studying the interface of RNA biology and virology through the lens of RNA modifications. Currently he is a postdoc in the Sontheimer lab since 2024, pursuing improvements in precision gene editing platforms efficacy and safety. Outside of the lab, Daniel enjoys spending time with family, reading, videogames, and tabletop RPGs.
