Irina Radu, MD, MHA, postdoctoral research fellow

Irina Radu, MD, MHA, postdoctoral research fellowIrina Radu, MD, MHA, is a postdoctoral research fellow who returned to the Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis Division on May 1, 2025. Dr. Radu, originally from Romania served as a cardiology attending physician at an emergency hospital before relocating to the US in August 2019. She holds a bachelor's degree in management and a master's in healthcare management. With over ten years of experience in clinical and translational research, Dr. Radu has worked at UMass Chan in Cardiology and Neurology for the past six years focusing her work on endothelial dysfunction and improving patient outcomes through clinical trials. She is an experienced teacher of medical students in the Research Pathway program and also trains clinical research coordinators in clinical and research skills. 

Dr. Radu’s career bridges clinical practice and research, with a focus on cardiology, neurology, and public health. She is passionate about mentorship, healthcare improvement, and patient-centered research. She is an active advocate for health and wellness, collaborating with organizations such as AARP (Walk with a Doc program), WalkFit VIP, and several departments at UMass Chan, including iCELS, the Office of Community and Government Relations, and the Office of Wellbeing.

Dr. Radu currently serves as a scientific member of the UMass Chan IRB. She has held additional leadership roles within the UMass Chan Postdoctoral Association, serving as Vice President, President-Elect, and a board member since 2020.
