Hieu Tran, 2025 Summer Intern
Hieu Tran, is a first-year medical student with a strong interest in neuroscience and clinical research. He grew up in Vietnam and moved to Massachusetts at 16 before earning a bachelor’s in Biology and Psychology from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) in Boston. Before attending medical school, Hieu conducted research at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, studying schizophrenia and bipolar disorder using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) neurons and rodent models. Currently, his interests have expanded to include stroke and spine research. At the Henninger Stroke Lab, Hieu will be investigating the classification and outcomes of patients with Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy, aiming to understand how this condition is diagnosed, managed, and its impacts on clinical decision-making and long-term recovery.
Hieu Tran has been chosen by the UMass Chan Summer Program directors to participate in a research project with the Henninger Stroke Lab. The four-week internship is made possible by the UMass Chan Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (OUME) department.
