Molly Gallagher, MDMay Resident Spotlight: Molly Gallagher, MD

In this month’s Resident Spotlight, we feature Molly Gallagher, MD, a third-year Internal Medicine Resident on the Medical Education track at UMass Chan. We recently caught up with Dr. Gallagher to learn more about her clinical and research interests, why she chose UMass Chan for residency, and her favorite things to do around Worcester.

Hometown?

New Tripoli, PA

What are your clinical and research interests?
I am interested in hospital medicine and will be starting as a hospitalist at UMass this summer! I am also passionate about medical education and am currently working on a project focused on improving educational resources related to correctional medicine.

Are you involved in any other groups or activities at UMass Chan that you’d like to highlight?
I am part of the Medical Education track and work with medical students through the Longitudinal Preceptor Program. I am also interested in procedures and am part of a quality improvement project aimed at increasing procedural opportunities for residents.

What makes UMass Chan a great place for your residency?
I love the culture at UMass! From day one, everyone has been warm, welcoming, and supportive, which fosters an excellent collaborative working environment to provide optimal care for a diverse and medically complex patient population. The mentorship I have received, marked by advocacy and genuine support, has played a significant role in my development as both a clinician and an individual.

Favorite hobbies?
I love rock climbing at the local gym, reading fiction novels, and doing crossword puzzles.

Favorite thing to do in Worcester/Worcester area?
Exploring new restaurants with my friends! Worcester and the neighboring towns have so many great spots for appetizers, entrées, and (most importantly) dessert. Some of my personal favorites are Mare E Monti, Meze, and Kai Mook.

What is your go-to board game?
My favorite game is actually a card game called Euchre. I love the fast pace and the element of strategizing and communicating with your partner.

In your spare time, what TV show do you binge?
I like a lot of sitcoms, but my favorite is Parks and Recreation.

What song/artist do you hope comes on first when you press random play on your playlist?
It’s always changing, but right now I’ve been listening to a lot of Olivia Dean!
