UMass Chan Medical School Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry
General Information
Summary Timeline for 2025-2026 Fellowship
- May 1, 2024: First day that programs can review applications and/or contact applicants
to schedule interviews.
 - 
August 1, 2024: First day that programs can conduct interviews.
 - 
September 16, 2024: First day that programs can offer positions to candidates.
 - 
7 calendar days after offer of position: Programs can withdraw an offer if they have not
received an acceptance from the applicant. - 
24 hours after accepting a position: Applicants must inform all other programs to
which they have applied that they have accepted a position and are withdrawing their
candidacy. - Visa sponsorship: J1 (and possibly H1b).
 - (1) Satisfy the following:
- Applicants must have at least completed the requirements of an ACGME accredited general psychiatry residency at the time of start of the fellowship year.
 - Applicants must have a full Massachusetts medical license by the start date of fellowship.

 - (2) Documents to send:
- General application form
(AAPL application guidelines, common application checklist) - Three letters of recommendation (including one from the program director), sent directly from the individual who completed the letter.
 - Two redacted writing samples (preferably at least one forensic report, but could also include a discharge summary, admission assessment, or journal article)
 - Personal statement (one page)
 - USMLE scores, and USMLE certificate when applicable
 - Medical diploma
